Release Setup Guide

Before using the Spotify Editorial Pitch from ReleaseKit AI, you usually need a few things in place. Here is what to set up — in order — so you can actually submit your song to Spotify's editorial team.

  1. 1

    Choose a distributor

Independent artists usually need a music distributor to send their song to Spotify, Apple Music and other platforms. Common options include DistroKid, TuneCore, CD Baby, LANDR and similar services. Pick one that fits your release schedule and budget — most charge a yearly or per-release fee.

  2. 2

    Upload your song

Inside the distributor you upload the song title, artist name, cover artwork, audio file (usually WAV) and your chosen release date. Set the release date a few weeks in the future so you have time to pitch and tease the song.

  3. 3

Wait for the release to appear in Spotify for Artists

After the distributor delivers the release, the upcoming song usually appears in your Spotify for Artists dashboard within a few days. This is when you can start pitching it to Spotify's editorial team.

  4. 4

Claim or access Spotify for Artists

You need access to your artist profile in Spotify for Artists to manage your releases and submit your pitch. If you have not claimed your profile yet, request access at artists.spotify.com — your distributor can usually help speed this up.

  5. 5

    Pitch before release day

The Spotify Editorial Pitch is for upcoming, unreleased songs only. Submit your pitch through Spotify for Artists at least 7 days before your release date — earlier is better. You can only pitch one upcoming song at a time per artist profile.

  6. 6

    Use the ReleaseKit AI output

Copy the Spotify Editorial Pitch generated in your release kit, paste it into the pitch form in Spotify for Artists, and adapt it before submitting. Tweak the tone, add any context the form asks for, and keep it under the character limit Spotify shows.

Heads up. ReleaseKit AI does not guarantee playlist placement. Editorial decisions are made by Spotify's curators based on the song, the pitch, and many other factors. Use the generated pitch as a strong starting point and edit it to sound like you.
